Watching

Succession S3E9 Season Finale (HBO)

Ayiyiyi. Firstly I haven’t enjoyed live-tweeting a show like this since S1 Scandal. And then going back through the tweets to see what bits and pieces people caught from other episodes. This season was phenomenal. Watching the kids come together just to

get screwed over again by their parents and Tom of all people. Brilliance. Sheer brilliance. Give them every award please and thank you.

Insecure S5E8 (HBO)

It’s still not giving me last season feels. This episode was good to see Issa kinda go Sliding Doors and see how her life would be but they’re spending a lot of time on Nathan and every time I see Lawrence, I roll my eyes. I do not know at this point what it will take to give me a satisfying ending. I will see it through. But it is giving me S3 mid vibes.

Grand Crew S1E1-2 (NBC)

This is a new show that NBC did a winter preview and then will put it on in January. It’s about a mostly male friend group (the married one, the single but wants to be in a relationship one, the one who has a good job and has his stuff together, the one that sleeps in the friend’s spare room) and Nicole Byer (the single one’s sister) and they drink a lot and navigate life in Los Angeles. It is funny. Like genuinely funny. But I haven’t watched a Dan Goor (Parks and Rec, Brooklyn 99) show that wasn’t. None of the actors are familiar to me aside from Nicole but Addy was acting like she wasn’t watching and then started cracking up laughing at the show so I assume we will be cracking up together in January. I like that it’s just Black people living life. I’d watch 1000 versions of a show like that. It gives me How I Met Your Mother vibes, but when the show was good not those last two seasons I won’t speak of.

Selling Tampa S1E1-2 (Netflix)

I haven’t watched any of the other franchises but this one is a Black woman-owned realty company in Tampa selling million-dollar homes. It combines my love of gorgeous BLack women and judging home interiors. It’s like if the housewives of Potomac all worked together and I’m enjoying it so far. This seems like one of those Netflix shows where you accidentally watch the whole season one day.

Killing Eve S1 E1-2 (BBC America)

Yes I just started this show. It’s been on my Shows to Watch list for a very, very long time but finally I got on Hulu and got to it. And I am in love. Villanelle (Jodie Comer) is a psychopathic contract killer and Eve (Sandra Oh) is the MI-6 agent trying to find her. It is deeply violent and darkly humorous. I expected that cause I watched S1 of Fleabag by Phoebe Waller-Bridge and I know she created this show but this is my jam. MY JAM.

Hawkeye S1E5 (Disney+)

This episode made the show worth it. I said it was low stakes and it still hasn’t gotten existential threat but we are finally getting to some good stuff AND omg that scene with watching someone go through getting blipped. Fantastic.

And Just Like That S1E1 (HBOMax)

I saw lots of chatter on Twitter about the show and knew something important happened the first episode so I watch it. I watched the original series. I watched the movies. I enjoyed it but it wasn’t my shit. This new iteration is forced and I don’t like diversity for the sake of diversity. Just…no. I don’t like the Samantha dismissal. I just wanted more fashions and more brunches and more girl talk. This is not that.

Watchlist

In the next week I’m looking forward to:

Spider-Man : No Way Home (2021)
The Matrix whatever number they are on (2021). Bless HBOMax but I also might see it at the movies and the rewatch at home.

Un-Watch List

There is a movie coming out about Lucille Ball but they have Nicole Kidman playing it and it looks terrible because Nicole has had so much done to her forehead the muscles don’t move. And I know because I’ve watched like 8 shows of hers this year that require forehead emotions and
