Interview with the almost 5 Year Old

Addy’s birthday is this weekend.  While I like to be reflective and go through all her birthday party pictures on Facebook, I was also looking forward to her interview questions this year.  She’s been obviously opinionated on everything and has also kicked the smart assery up a notch.  Hashtag genetics.

This year we got fully potty trained.  It wasn’t so much an issue while she was up but for like six months she kept insisting that she wasn’t going to stop wearing pull ups at night until she turned 5.  I didn’t want to push it because I didn’t know how many night time washes would be involved.  But one night I asked if she wanted to wear panties instead of pulls ups and she was like “Yeah” and it’s only been a handful of accidents.  So I literally can’t tell anyone how to potty train your child because mine did herself. That’s not even a humble brag. It’s just what happened.

She really enjoyed moving into the house and for her birthday we’re going full suburban and getting her a bike.  She very specifically asked for one with all the princesses on it.  Fine.  I’m considering a bike for myself so we can hit up the neighborhood.  I don’t require princesses, just a basket. To hold a Beats Pill.  Like my bike I had when I was 8 (mounted radio).  She is also really big into closing ALL THE DOORS,  going through the drive thru, Kidz Bop, and getting her hair up in a bun.

Favorite thing to say

You almost scared me a heart attack.

She is also very much into having certain items in her Frozen purse including her “phone” (iPod nano), sunnies, and hanitizer.

When I first tried to ask her the interview questions she wasn’t interested as she was on my phone playing Angry Birds.  But I tried again later and she would ask me the question back and then go ask Brownlee, who was running her bath.

We also started with chapter books this week.  It’s going to be a tedious process but I’m trying not to complain too much.  Everything is tedious because you’re answering 1000 questions at all times.  It’s also fantastic to watch her recognize words and want to know what everything says or how to spell certain words or telling me what things start with etc.  So that little pen that we bought her for her THIRD birthday that helps with reading is finally working.

  1. Happy Birthday, Addy! Love her shirt. And chapter books? Girl, you are better than me. Quinn requested to "play" Zingo, the sight words game, the other day. I almost lost my mind. "You just saw that word FOUR times in a row less than 2 minutes ago. What do you mean "there" is now "me"? SMH.

    1. she asks 100 questions on movies she's seen and 1000 questions on movies she hasn't seen, so a CHAPTER BOOK YIELDS INFINITY QUESTIONS. but it's still fun. ish.
