We discovered comic books.
Chuck Palahniuk’s been talking about Fight Club 2 and bringing Tyler Durden back and stuff and finally confirmed it would be in comic book form. And I was like “well I gotta find a comic book store.”
Fortunately there’s one right next to my work Half Price Books. So I went to get the first issue and was like “why the hell have I not been going to comic book stores?!”
A comic book store is basically only the good things at Hot Topic. At least the good things that used to be at Hot Topic??? I haven’t been there in a while. And no need now that I have comic book stores.
Anyway they had a lot of My Little Pony representation and of course Frozen and I know comics range from Donald Duck to Avengers to Fight Club 2 so I decided I would take Addy as well. Cause eventually the second issue of Fight Club 2 would be released.
We went one day after I picked her up because when she saw my comic book she was a little salty at the fact she only got some Disney Princess stickers. She walked up and was like “hey they got a Batman light! and a Superman light!”. And when we get inside. “Hey that’s Baymax! That’s Guardians of the Galaxy! Look at that big Batman! WONDER WOMAN!” (I’ve been pushing Wonder Woman hard because she’a a super hero and a princess #feministagenda)
Then we hit the wall of current and recent issues. Oooooh man.
Most of my exposure to the comic book world came from movies based on comic books. Batman, Iron Man, Avengers, X-Men, Spider-Man, Ninja Turtles, Scott Pilgrim, Superman, Fantastic 4, Kick-Ass, The Losers, 2 Guns, Sin City, 300, Hellboy, Daredevil, Kingsman, Men In Black.
Watchmen.
Watchmen is fantastic. I saw it twice. And then I bought the graphic novel to see how different it was (very) and I bought the super extended deluxe BluRay.
Anyway, we learned that for every group of characters, each (popular) character has their own comic series or two. Like Harley Quinn has two or three in addition to probably appearing in Batman. There’s regular Justice League but then of course Superman and The Flash and Green Lantern have their own etc. Addy was keen to get her hands on Green Lantern then she saw Justice League America:
Right sooooo we now have a new medium in which to geek out.
That boy cold with the Canon tho!
