Pandemic Productivity

I’m pretty secure in my ability to say “yeah I’m not doing that” but pandemic productivity (or lack thereof) was starting to get to me.

TikTok dances. Fiftylleven “challenges” Whipped coffee. Bread baking. Regular baking. Sewing. Deep cleaning. All the things. I haven’t even really managed to do things I enjoy. Typically I tell myself that I am not doing things because I don’t have the time. But we’re stuck in the house so I mean there’s nothing but.

I can’t keep up with a podcast. I’ve read none books. Written few words. And I’ve watched hours and hours of television I’ve already seen. I’m bouncing between knowing that stay safe and being bored is really the only goal but I still feel like I should be doing more things. Sometimes.

Until I saw this post from Lisa Olivera on Instagram. She’s a therapist that posts a lot of helpful information. “We aren’t never-ending improvement projects.” (it’s a <5 min video.)

Self improvement is masturbation.

  1. I so needed this post and the video! I want to be frustrated, be sad sometimes, and do nothing. And other days I have energy and ideas. That is human ebb and flow, and I’m accepting it for what it is without feeling obligated to explain myself. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

  2. I feel the same way and I make sure not to force it but to let whatever happen .. happen organically. If I feel like learning a new skill/reading a self-help book, I do that. If I feel like watching The Office for the 50th time or reading a book of fiction, I do that. And if I feel like laying in bed all day, that’s exactly what I allow myself to do.

    Stay safe!

    1. I love this! I would feel guilty on the days I didn’t stay motivated and feel productive. This helps put self improvement into perspective. I like that you can improve yourself and feel whole and happy about who you currently are at the same time. The “self improvement is masterbation” is spot on!!!
