Business Bestie Brunch.

Saturday I was invited to take part in a Business Bestie Brunch hosted by The Marketing Chicks.

While I normally do blog conferences/symposiums, this was for businesses.  So the set up was familiar but it was a whole new environment because there were spa owners and event planners and cosmetic line owners etc.  And there wasn’t a ton of talk about SEO and page views and followers.

Janee Henderson, a life coach spoke to us about vision.  While I’m not a vision board type of person, Janee gave practical advice.  She wasn’t trying to get us to think a year or two ahead, but to plan for things to accomplish in 30 days.  That way you don’t give up and you really see results fast.  Cause I only had one goal for 2015 and I’m sooooo behind on my reading list.

Seneca Dunmore

Then we got some motivation from Seneca Dunmore.  She kept it 100 and talked about how growing up in the hood didn’t stop her from achiveing the goals she wanted to achieve.  She also stressed the correlation between writing down goals and actually reaching them.  So yay notebooks, right.

Yesnia Serratos gave serious information about how to get your business legally registered, the difference between an LLC and a corporation, and how women and minorities have all sorts of grant options working with the government.  Level Office was there to let us know about office space rental.  They even provide a virtual office for when you need to have a business address and a place to have packages delivered.  Not just a PO Box.  Amazing.

The Marketing Chick’s own Nicole Matthews gave us tons of tips on branding.  While bloggers tend to have that down and know the importance of it, you can never have too many tip on putting your mark on things.  Like yes there are a bajillion bloggers on the internet but what makes me, me?

Then Kirsten Berger, a makeup artist and life coach, came to give us makeup tips (which I am actually following

whaaaaat) and tips on body language to be a confident business woman.

We ended with Kristal Howard giving PR tips.  I’ve heard Kristal speak at Blog Elevated and she always gives great tips on how to handle your business no matter what industry you’re in.

It was a great way to spend a Saturday because I learned things to help my blog, help my photography business, and I met some really really great ladies.  We’re supposed to stick together and help each other accomplish goals because it’s always better to have someone reminding you what you’re supposed to be doing instead of just putting it off until it becomes urgent.  Like these NaNoWriMo notes I need to finish.
