Artsy Fartsy.

I’m always straddling the line between hippie and captalist.  I suppose that’s why I’m always going to love Fight Club.  Well one of the thousands of reasons.  I hate the establishment.  I use words like “The Establishment.”  But I need money for things.  Because I like things.  And food.

One of my favorite lyrics from my favorite band kinda sums up my hipster angst that I refuse to get rid of.

I want to forget how convention fits / but could not get out from under it / could not gut it out of me

Spoon, “The Underdog”

It’s always at all times always 100% accurate.  I blame…everyone else but myself.  Maybe Reaganomics?  Maybe Kurt Cobain.  It’s my right as a hipster.

All that to say the other day I saw this art piece on Instagram and instantly fell in love because it for lack of a better phrase “speaks to me.”  Which is never the case because I only like pretty art and don’t buy or look at it often.

Can you even buy things like this as my passive-aggressive way to deal with my post quarter-life-not-yet-mid-life crisis?  Can one “own” art?  I bet Urban Outfitters has it which I will hate and then have to buy.  Like how I can’t deal with that I hate the idea of what the Black Eyed Peas became but sing the shit out of every single song of their that comes on the radio.  What’s the word for this?

But for real.   I need this…art…piece?  Who speaks art that can tell me what this is and if I just have to settle for Flickr images of it.

OH! And because I had to search for Fight Club gifs, here’s another. fight club gif 2

And another

What was I talking about?

  1. Great blog. Sooooo, I found out that Banksy (artist in the UK) did the pic in 2009. He spoofed an original painting called The Gleaners by some fancy French painter, Jean-François Millet. I've already sent you the info. And you can buy a replication on Ebay. And btw, that painting is sooooo you!!!!
