This month snuck up on me.  I suppose with the holidays and the fact that I’m about to start buying 3T pants, it’s hard to believe that only another month has passed.
I think the biggest accomplishment for me so far is that we’ve gotten Addy to start using toothpaste.  I don’t know if you’ve ever had the misfortune of having to wrangle a toddler to get their teeth brushed, but it is no easy feat.  Unfortunately toddler morning breath is very potent and it was time to really do something about it.
I figured she had been doing good with the Thomas the Train spinbrush, and Crest knew the challenge ahead of me and created Hello Kitty toothpaste.  It’s regular ol bubble gum flavor, which doesn’t help to really freshen breath, but I did intice Addy with the promise to rinse and spit.  So we got a special cup just for her bathroom sink and I showed her how to take a big slurp, swish, and spit.  She showed me that she could spit onto the mirror.  Either way, we make very specific notes that she can spit only after she brushes with toothpaste.
She’s also taken to answering everything with “okay!”.  It’s really chipper and funny.  I’d like to think it’s because of all the Fantastic Mr. Fox we used to watch.  Either way she’s been obliging to all of our request.  At least with the “okay”.  Actually doing them is a different story.
We’ve also been trying to get her to be a “big girl” about things.  Mostly about demanding to be picked up all the time.  Honest Toddler once tweeted that he didn’t care what was in your hands, up means up.  That’s real life.  And it’s hard when you have a purse, bag, and cup of coffee and a 35 pound person demands up.  So we tell her that big girls walk on their own.  Or big girls put their cup in the sink.  And after Brownlee was able to accomplish something on his own, Addy made sure to let him know he was a “big girl” too.

  1. Now I understand why Addy is turning on the water from the tub faucet. She puts her mouth under the stream of water, holds it in her mouth for a few seconds, and then spits it out and starts laughing. I get it! Too funny!
