When I Grow Up

Lately I’ve been wondering what I would like to be when I grow up. It’s unfair to the world to make people (well Americans anyway) decide what the rest of their life is going to be like based off decisions they made in their late teens/early 20s. Just think of the fashion! What if you had to always dress like you did at 21?! Not matter how much weight you gained or lost and whatever new fashion trends came out. You were stuck in American Eagle t-shirts and short shorts.
(I had to glance down to make sure I wasn’t in an AE tee)
Granted, I didn’t go the straight college route. My mom hooked me up with an internship at her major gas employer and I settled into a life of office worker bee. Blogging wasn’t a thing then! There were barely internet message boards!

I’m not complaining (too much) about work just yet. I just…how does one figure it out? Are their guidance counselors for kids of all ages? There should be. Can that be my job? Can I get paid to watch movies and read and pin? But with medical benefits? Let’s work on that society!

What do you want to be when you grow up? How has that changed over the years?

When I was 6, I wanted to be a farmer. #teamoveralls

  1. When I grow up? I think I'm already grown up. But yeah, it's different than what I expected to be. From the age of 6, I wanted to be a nurse. That changed a few times in college, and now I'm a teacher. In the future? I think I'd like to stay teaching. We'll see what happens with that though, budget cuts are always looming.

  2. When I first heard Snoop Dogg's Doggystyle, I wanted to be a "muthaphukkin hustler" when I grew up….

I dont remember much before watching the movie Boomerang….after that I've always wanted to be the next Marcus Graham! Guess being a graphic designer with a degree in marketing is close enough for now, but in the future I still want to be a super-fly ass Director of Marketing or Advertising

  3. When I was kid I wanted to be a carpenter when I grew up. I knew they made a lot of money. In HS I wanted to be an accountant. I have a degree in Business Management and all I really want to be is happy. If I could I'd like to craft, travel and eat good food. I'd even be willing to blog/vlog about it.

  4. Up until 8th grade and I freaked out because my mom had a major nose bleed, I wanted to be a pediatric surgeon. After I realized that I wouldn't make it long in med school, I decided I wanted to do international business and maybe be a diplomat. So, I went to college, and majored in business. Dreams got shattered when I thought my financial accounting professor was speaking Latin every class. So anyway, whatevs. I transferred schools and changed majors…and wound up picking a major that required me to take business classes and lots of life science classes (biology, A&P, micrbio, etc.). Currently, I work in my field, and I guess I'd really just like to advance. And work from home, which is totally possible. I'm giving myself three years to make it happen. we'll see. 🙂

      1. so the other day, I thought about this post…and I basically don't know what I was thinking…I wanna be judge on Chopped or Iron Chef America. lol.
