Hands-Free Parenting

there are some things that i deem “granola” or “hippie dippy” that i am (not-so) secretly into.  Burt’s Bees products, Whole Foods, reusable bags, etc.  although i don’t subscribe to that entire lifestyle, i like to borrow things from them as i see fit.  just look at how many Burt’s Bees mango lip balms i’ve purchased in the past 6 months (5 tubes).

we used to joke way back when that ariel would have to get me a Baby Bjorn carrier simply because she despised them so bad. plus some people call it “baby wearing”. i mean come on! this is one of those baby slings that are not unlike a kangaroo pouch that lets you shop for your Burt’s Bee’s at Whole Foods with your reusable shopping bags.  not that i would do that, cause Baby Bjorn products are outrageously priced.

BUT i will be doing so sporting a Moby Wrap.  a whosa what?! A Moby Wrap i said.

the part of Addison is being played by a pink Teddy Bear

it’s basically a giant piece of fabric that you wrap around your body and stick your baby in. i registered for it for the baby shower thinking that i would use it all the time to take the kiddo on the walks with Scooter.  Cassandra was awesome enough to buy it for me (Thanks again!!!) but i’ve been too chicken to try it.  i mean it’s a giant piece of fabric that i’m supposed to stick my baby in! i’ve even read of some hippie dippies using it for hands-free breastfeeding on the spot.  i just want to walk the dog.  so after a very warm and slow walk with scooter, and some tips from girls on The Bump, i decided to try it out tonight.  S-U-C-C-E-S-S!!!

i know some people (see: Naynee) think they are ridiculous, but it would make house cleaning, quick trips to the store, and even Scooter walking easy peasy with Addy in tow.

now i just have to actually put the baby in there..

  1. LMBO, I'm loving the reference to me… When I saw the title I instantly figured I would be exposed for not liking the thought of babies being carried with no hands (ie. African Moms). I don't like the child leashes either (they're kids not pets)!! Yes, Naynee does think it's ridiculous…
    :p

  2. LMAO @ Naynee and "African Moms…" and…if you put Addy on a leash…I'mma beat yo a$$. Yeah, I get the whole notion of Addy being YOUR kid so you get to rightfully screw her up however you deem, but, a leash?! :T I know you won't…but I'm just saying.

Before you go outside with Addy in the wrap…make sure you walk around the house first…preferably with pillows all over the place. lol. 🙂

  3. Lol. To clarify, I love the thought of the wrap. I was against the baby bjorns because "African Moms" (smh @ Naynee) just use a piece of fabric, and why would I go spend a hundred dollars on a bjorns when I can just go to Hancock Fabrics and get a few yards of material?!

Look at Freedom's online pics, her man has the Sun wrapped in one while he does dishes and it looks soooo natural. Lol.

  4. I'm a hippy…I used mine for hands free breastfeeding LOL. Those wraps are the truth for real. There's a hold you can do that makes baby feel like their back in the womb and Addison will fall into a deep coma-like sleep. Don't ask how many naps Zoe took with her sling as a blanket cuz I eased her off of me. Or we would just nap together like Kanga and Roo. Awesome fabric…awesome indeed lol.

  5. This is nice dealing post! Mum is leader of kid to divert and make a child with successful way. To teach skateboard is fine and useful for kids recreation. Mom's has responsibility to learn of her child how to play skateboard with safety way. Using gloves and a helmet is perfect for the kid and newer of skate rider. Thanks!
