No #NewMusicMonday this week because I’ve just been listening to Big Grams and Ouroboros over and over. But I did make a nice little button over there on the sidebar for easy access to those posts. Remember when bloggers used to have blogger buttons for their blog friends sidebars?! No? Just me? Anyway here’s some of what’s been going on.
Cord Cutting
We really really wanted to cut out cable. Well, cut it down anyway. We signed up for the free trial of PlayStation Vue, which is their cable streaming service. There’s a PS4 (thanks wedding gift cards) in the living room, and a PS3 in the bedroom. Vue has packages that lets you pick how many channels you need with all the DVR you need and it’s less thank $45. That WOULD HAVE BEEN CLUTCH if AT&T didn’t have us by the nuts of a “promotion” and now we have to stick it out until September. I’m not 100% upset because I don’t like change but we did trim down the channels. I still get to watch Golden Girls for about 6 hours on the weekend so it doesn’t really make a difference in my lifestyle.
What HAS made a difference is that Animaniacs is on Netflix and I was twitchy with joy. Especially after I tried an episode of Love and it was horrible and I didn’t care for the first 2.5 episodes of Season 7 of Parks & Rec (I pushed through and got to episode 8 and everything was back to fine.) If you can’t talk about shows you’re binge watching on the internet then where can you discuss them.
Bullet Journaling
I’ve needed a better way to keep track of non-work things in my life. I have a decent notebook system of always having one on me and using it as a place to catch all things to be done, ideas that come out at me, random song lyrics, lists, all of that. But I usually end up writing the same thing over and over or having to flip back several pages to remember what I was supposed to be doing. I have this paper board on Pinterest and some of the suggested posts have lead me to the insane world of bullet journaling.
There’s no way I have the patience, time, or ability to keep up with these intricate systems but it does seem amazing and I have taken enough from it to fit a weeks worth of stuff onto two pages in a notebook and still have space for blog, photo, and project lists, which is all basically a bunch of wishful thinking. At least now I don’t have to write “return thing to Target” every single day of the week.
Not Giving A F*ck
I saw this book, The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving A F*ck, which is a parody of The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, which I don’t have any interest in reading but the internet tells me is great.
Anyway, I started reading it and it’s great and while I tend to not give a lot of them now, it seems I could be giving even less f*cks.
What have you been up to lately?
We cut cable out a few years ago and feel free!! We have Netflix and I find shit online to watch so we're not completely in the dark! Never heard of the PS version of streaming, but definitely looking into it now (we have a PS4 in the living, PS3 in the bedroom and another PS4 for me in the guestroom, lol). Animaniacs is LOVE! Haven't watched that LOVE show but my mom told me "That little girl curses more than you do" so that makes me want to watch it LMAO! That bullet journaling looks amazing but like you, I don't think I could handle it. Grrfeisty told me she's been watching all sorts of youtube videos. -shrugs- We'll see how I do.
i might watch the second episode of LOVE just to give me something to do before Kimmy Schmidt comes back lol. but i'll really probably just watch Kimmy Schmidt again. check out Vue though. you get a free trial for a week.
YES! I remember when we posted blog buttons of friends!!! The good ol days!!! And I need to read that book. Immediately.
