I saw this billboard that Disney On Ice: Whateverwhatever was coming to town and I figured this would be a good treat for Addy since she liked the circus and we’re not quite to the level of theatrical performing arts. I’d like to get her ready for the Houston Ballet and the TUTS plays but we have to work our way up.
However, I’m sure Broadway tours cost about as much as Disney on Ice, especially when you throw in the mandatory lightup thingy (her) and cotton candy (me). Just like at the circus.
Addy was ready for the day in her Elsa hoodie, Rapunzel shirt, and Disney Princess boots. I tried to explain that the people will be ice skating and doing tricks and she was like “when is Elsa coming out.”
Mickey, Goofy, Donald, and Minnie came out and told us we’d go through the stories that Disney was famous for. There was an elaborate Alice In Wonderland bit. Peter Pan and the Lost Boys were there. Tinkerbell made a special appearance so that was nice. And I was like “Addy isn’t this cool” and she was like “ok but where is Elsa?”
Then Snow White and the Dwarfs and that was okay because she really likes Grumpy and Lion King and Aladdin got more applause from YaYa than Addy because YaYa likes the songs, but who doesn’t like to sing “Be Prepared”. After intermission I noticed the lack of princesses and figured there would be more to come. Ariel kicked off the second half with some black light action. Rapunzel and Flynn had a nice bit with the floating lanterns and Addy was into that. Tiana and Prince Naveen had a bit as well then. Then she grabs me by the sleeve like “you said Elsa was coming” and at this point I just shrugged like “I don’t know what to tell you bruh.” Because I didn’t because what the hell kind of DISNEY ON ICE show wouldn’t have the ICE QUEEN ELSA.
She would wave when Tinkerbell or Goofy or Ariel would skate bye. And sometimes they got up on the podium and she would wave at them too so we felt a little better that she was getting into it.
There was a big medley of Disney Princesses and Princes which Addy liked and Mickey comes back like “thanks for coming bye!” And Addy just sat there. She got a light up Elsa wand but you could just tell she was salty about it.
When I got home and Googled, of course after the fact, I found out Frozen has it’s own separate ice spectacular. Do I have an eye roll gif?
Anyway she didn’t NOT have fun she was just slightly disappointed. So that’s great. Yay doing things.
I need every one of those eye-rolling pics! And I agree that Addy was salty. The kid knows what she wants.
