Sunday we went to the circus. I knew NOTHING about the circus. I’m sure I’ve been back when the Rockets played in the Summit (see: early 90s if you’re not from Houston) but I don’t remember anything about the circus. At least nothing that hasn’t been distorted by Carnivale or The Night Circus.
Either way, it was in town and Addy can sit through movies with no problem (seriously, Yaya took her to go see Ant-Man) then live entertainment should be fun.
Seeing as how we had to pay several arms and legs for admission I just treeated the day like vacation and we just weren’t going to complain about the cost of things. So I will not complain about the costs of things. For reference though, a thing of cotton candy in a felt hat was $14. Or $100 if you ask Addy.
I didn’t take the big camera because I was going to enjoy the circus myself and also I’m not lugging it around. The clowns were funny, the Ringmaster looked like Titus Andromedon, and I totally forgot about the lion tamers being a big part of the show. For the record, I have irrational fear of lions. Well rational in the sense that they will maul you to death without thinking about it, but irrational in the fact that I live in a city. (But still rational)
So the pictures aren’t great quality but who cares.
Addy’s favorite part was the death cage motorcycle riders. She legit was like “LOOK! LOOK AT THEM!” and 4 of them rode around in the metal cage. Then they added a fifth. And then three more. Her mind was blown. They paraded a couple of horses around like a Peagus and a Unicorn but when we got home she was still like “you remember when the motorcycles were going around and around in a circle?” and I was like “yeah but what about the ladies that were on the trapeze and trampoline”
“Ok but the motorcyles…”
There were only 2 mishaps during the circus. 1 – of course she was up at 6am Sunday morning and sleepy by 12:30. Of course. Show starts at 1. OF COURSE.
And when you walk in there are fiftyleven booths of merchandise. Except it’s the same 3 stands to infinity and beyond. Like a perfect loop gif.
b – We got her a spinny lighty things and then she wanted to spinny light A LOT of the circus.
Except during the motorcycles.
So now I’m really going to see Cirque Du Soleil next time they come to town and try not to dream about The Night Circus (seriously, read that book), OR have terrifying lion dreams.
Addy is probably going to be doing this.
