Addy
I totally should have done the 3 years whatever months post by now but here we are, and it’s undone. She pottys. She talks a lot. She has shoe demands. She’s fine. She had a cold on Halloween and literally trick or treated at 2 houses, which was fine by all of us because she just wanted to sit inside and pass out candy. The flow of kids was lite at YaYa’s so we all got a lot of candy to take home and everyone was happy. She went as Ariel and we still have not been able to clean up the trail of glitter she left in her wake.
NaNoWriMo
It’s that time. I’m full on participating. My word count isn’t to where it should be, but with a few long nights I should be able to catch up and fill it in. Hooray. I’m taking a stab at YA this time. Not sure why exactly, because it’s not really different from anything else, just the main characters are teens. It really should be saved for books written by young adults, no?
Stats are over on the sidebar ->
Also Ariel got me this NaNo USB wristband and I’m now basically a spy.
Politics
I wanted to write something last week about the shitstorm that was the mid-term elections. It was gonna be all “I stand with Wendy and if you don’t like it, bitch about it on the internet space that you pay for, stay off of mine.” But I didn’t.
It’s still weird to me that I feel ways about things and do things like follow politicians on Twitter and like when they wear Wu-Tang branded shirts with their name in them to election day rallies or whatever Wendy was at. FOrtunately I avoided most of the internet drama that goes with elections because I weeded all those people from my feeds after the 2012 elections. I get that everyone has their own voice but it doesn’t mean I have to read about it.
But my friends and I wonder how we can be so progressive and free(er) thinking and others are so conservative and closed off. I guess they block the other people from their timeline as well. And we keep thinking that oh it might get better and if we made any progress now, just imagine how much better it will be in X amount of years. In actualilty I will probably be one of those old ladies with the sign that says “I can’t believe I still have to protest this shit.”
Photography
I took a friend’s family photos this weekend and I actually did not hate it. They had a toddler and a dog but it was a beautiful day and everything went swimmingly! Isn’t that the best? To not hate something.
So now I think I can wrangle the three of us to take Christmas card pictures. In theory anyway. We haven’t even sent out wedding thank yous soooooo Brownlee really needs to get on that.
I also bought a remote shutter release and intend to step my selfie game up 1000 fold. Ok maybe 2x as much but still, exponentially.
Music
In a fantastic turn for the best, Spoon FINALLY announced they were coming to Houston. I was so worried because they did ACL and a handful of other cities but no Houston. I’d even drive up to funky Dallas for Spoon, but I don’t have to and they will be here Dec. 30 and it will be my fourth Spoon show and I will go forever.
Black Keys concert this weekend.
And becuase of that damn James Franco commercial Motorola likes to play, I am currently obsessed with this song. It helps get (some) writing done.
