The Wedding : Recap

We’re back from Mexico! So let the blogging commence.

First things first, I must delete my wedding board on Pinterest.

Now that that’s done, here are the wedding deets (mostly for Lauren’s sake).

Dress

I had a simple dress. Sideways rouching or bunching or whatever.  We added a belt and I wore a birdcage down the aisle but swapped over to a headband for the reception.  All the details on our photographer, Dreamy Elk‘s blog.  My advice, if anyone is asking, is to not pay a lot of money for a wedding dress because people (mostly me) will step all over it and people (again, me) will get make up all over it and people charge a butt load to clean it.

Venue

The venue, Northwest Forest Conference Center,  took care of so much.  They were great.  The girls had a get ready suite and the boys had one of the other side of the property.  For the whole day!!!  This worked out well for the First Look pics.  The weather cooperated and it didn’t rain but there was a constant overcast which was good because it was hella humid for the reception.  Without the clouds I’m sure someone (me) would have passed out.

Half of the reception tables were inside, the other half outside.  But everyone could move about freely.  Plus the bar, candy bar, and the photo booth were on the inside as well.  Of course we had a candy bar and photobooth!   Except now we have a LOT of candy that someone (me) keeps eating.

Food

I didn’t even eat any cake.  And I know the cake was good because we went to taste it and went through all of these combinations to get the best cake possible.  Fortunately our coordinator had us sit down and made us plates so we did eat, but the cake?  Oh well.

Ceremony

The ceremony might have lasted a total of 7 minutes.  We told the officiant we didn’t want a poem or reading or song or candle ceremony or anything.  Just get er done.  And he did.   Addy walked down the aisle with my mom and I walked in to Ray Lamontagne’s “You Are the Best Thing”.  Hooray!  It was either going to be that or Sara Bareilles’ “I Choose You”.

First dance song was You’re All I Need then fickyficky (that’s the technical term for when a DJ mixes) the Method Man and Mary J Blige version.  Which quickly turned our nice first dance into a dance battle.

We wobbled and bunny hopped and Brownlee’s phrat brothers took their turns stretching and pistol grip pumping.  And the DJ played Migos for me so everyone was happy.

Mishaps

I can’t think of much that went awry.  I think we started close to on time.  And most of the guests were on time.

Addy managed to knock a tooth back up into her gums (yes you read that correctly) the night before so she was a little tired and swollen faced the day of the wedding but nothing could stop her from getting into her dress and leopard print shoes.

wedding 4

Even when we got back from honeymoon I asked her what her favorite part of the wedding was and she said her purple dress.   She also got her own boquet and posed with the wedding party accordingly.

It was hot as balls but I don’t think anyone minded too too much.  There were a few bugs as well but we were outside.

I got my sparkler exit so I was pretty pumped about that.  And although I was greatly against all wedding things, I’m glad we did it but didn’t spend too much on it.  Yay for balance.

Everyone told us it was a good mix of me and Brownlee, which is what a wedding is supposed to be right?  Anywho if you weren’t following along live, the #breandbrownlee tag are full of pics on Facebook and Instagram . I’ll do a honeymoon recap later this week.  Maybe.

  1. YESSSSS thanks for thinking of me! And Bre in twenty years (and probably Addy, too!) will thank you for this. I was thinking of you that day because it was rainy and gross where ever I was at the time so I'm glad you had mostly-cooperating weather. I saw a tiny bit of your dance battle in someone's video, amazing. Love the song you walked down the aisle to. Sounds like it was an all around great day, you looked fantastic, and now you're married so you can eat all the leftover candy you want 😉

  2. I'm so glad you did this recap…it's like I was there! I'm so happy the wedding was just as you wanted and you're so happy to be married to your man!!!! And Addy by the way, tried to show up the bride with her good looks 😉
