Pumpkin Patch 2013

It rained Friday.  Hard.  It rained all Friday night.  Normally this would not be a problem except I planned for us to go to the Pumpkin Patch Saturday morning.  Fortunately the rain made it feel like fall and the temps were a nice 65 degrees or so.

Addy pulled up her bootstraps and we hit Halter Inc again for inexpensive pumpkin fun.

This year was much more enjoyable for Addy than last year despite most of the stuff not functioning because they were pumping water out of the field.  She probably wouldn’t have cared much for a tractor ride and she didn’t even want to pet the miniature pony so a pony ride was out.

Obviously they are learning about fall and Halloween at daycare so she’s been very into pumpkins and ghost and I am delighted because I can show her The Nightmare Before Christmas 1000 times and she will actually enjoy it instead of just like “Belle, please” instead.  Plus there is no way I can explain WHY there is Halloween because who knows.  Either way she likes pumpkins and she picked up several before settling on an Addy-sized one to take home.

The petting zoo part was open but incredibly muddy and impossible to tell donkey poop from mud so we didn’t even bother to go inside.  No matter because Addy was able to see the bunnies in their cage from the fence and she absolutely loved it.  There might be some trips to PetsMart in the future just to look at the animals in the store.

The trip was incredibly quick on account of there just not being much to do, but it’s best that we went now instead of trying to wait and just not doing it.  Plus we only spent $7 so who’s to complain.

I am not a pumpkin carver and obviously I’m not making a pumpkin pie out of a tiny pumpkin.  Who am I kidding?  I’m not making a pumpkin pie.  1) i don’t bake and 2) i’m not convinced pumpkins taste like anything so I don’t do pumpkin foods.  So when we got home we sat Addy down and let her paint her pumpkin.

Maybe next year I will get a pumpkin and black and white paint and Jack Skellington it.

Maybe.

  1. Yay for the pumpkin patch! PS: We take the girls to Petsmart to look at animals all the time, they love it, and they get to pet them 🙂
