Mock. YEAH!

Remember when Addy went in for her checkup and they said that her vocabulary was going to quadruple between 18 months and 2 years old?  I think it’s starting.

Sunday night we made a quick trip to YaYa’s house where they were so happy to give Addy her new Elmo doll.  While she was sitting on YaYa’s lap holding Elmo and facetiming Elmo, the plush toy dropped out of her lap and onto the floor.  At the end of her Elmo call she looked right at YaYa and said, clear as day “I want my Elmo”.

Am I kinda mad that her first four word sentence was prompted because of Elmo? Only maybe a little bit.

But she’s also is trying so hard to learn new words.  Whatever we say, she wants to repeat.  Luckily we’ve minimized the amounts of “shits” we say within her earshot.  When I’m reading her books at night (cross The BFG, and Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing off the list) I don’t think she’s paying attention but every now and then she will repeat a word. “Good?” “Baby?” “Daddy?” etc.

She’s also taken to point at everything she can name.  Which is cute until it’s time to go to bed and she wants to name all of the animals on her sheets.  El’fant? Mun-kee? Caaaaaat?  When you ask where something is, it’s “right there”.  If she gives you something that she’s done with (even partially eaten food) “here go!”.

And now comes the hard part.  Trying to stop ourselves from getting her to repeat our ridiculousness for blogging/YouTubing purposes.
