Girly Girl???

I was not prepared to have a daughter.  I know when I was pregnant I was all Team Green and figured that worse come to worse I would have a little girl that wore monkey clothes and lots of gray.  Just like me.  And she did for a while. 

And I wasn’t offended if someone asked if she was a little girl or a little boy.

Then Brownlee swore every little girl needed earrings.  So she got her ears pierced and I swore I wouldn’t have anything to do with them.  Till she lost a set and I figured I’d use a gift card to get her some more.

Despite having 3 holes in each ear, I don’t care about earrings.  For years I’ve stuck with small silver hoops in each hole.  They go with everything.  Now I’m donning silver balls.  That’s as far as I go for change.  Addy has similar ones in her ear but I saw these super cute Hello Kitty ones, I was just out of  luck lucky they didn’t have them at Penny’s.

Whatever!

I’m increasingly seeing girly girl things around here.  And what’s worse is that I have no control over it.  They don’t make monkey things in 18M size!  There is a great gender divide in Carter’s.  And they’re clothes are so damn cute I can’t help it.  I still refrain (as much as possible) from an abundance of pink.  I see cute yellow dresses.  Cute silver glitter Tom’s.  Little headbands.  It just keeps going.  And that’s just the stuff I buy.  People have brought over stuff that’s covered in pink and bling and what not.

And I keep reading blog post from boy mom’s like Jillsmo and Totty about how they dodged bullet by not having girls cause they get to do things like talk about pee and farts and whatever else boys do that are funny.  So what they have a small selection of shoes!

So I am having to come to grips with having a girl.  I mean a girly girl.  She’s fallen in love with this tutu.  She wants it on and has slept in it 2 nights this week.  She likes my cuffs.  She likes my necklaces.  I could see if I wore them ALL the time and she watched me putting them on to get all dolled up.  But I don’t doll up!  Gahhh.

What is we goin do?!
