The Cost of Savings

Why aren’t piggy banks free?  If I buy one then I’m already -$10 for my savings.

That’s initially all I cared to write.  But I think readers (mostly Gabby) would be mad if that’s all the blog said.

I want a Keurig.  I honestly can’t give a valid reason besides the fact that they seem awesome but that’s really all the

reason I need.  I’ve done little to no research on the product.  I just know you take the pod of coffee and put it in the machine and a minute later you have a cup of coffee.

But contrary to popular belief, I’m not really that much of a coffee drinker.  I drink tea.  All this time I spend at Starbucks is drinking chai lattes.  (CHAIWALLA) It’s only on the really rough mornings that I go for the hard stuff.  And I know that the Keurigs make tea and hot chocolate, but I think once I get one, I’ll be one of those folks that drive to work with a mug full of coffee.

In theory that would cut down on my Starbucks trips and probably in the long run save me a few pennies seeing as how the K-Cups are less than $1 a cup.  I should consider the $$$ put down for the initial investment and K-Cup buying.    But women shop by how much they save, so that’s what I will focus on.

And since I can’t fully justify to myself just outright buying one come payday. I’ve decided to save for it.  This is possible the hardest thing I will ever have to do.  And in an effort not to use electronic money (cause that’s all a bank account is anyway), I’m going to save for it with…

CASH…

Yes! Addy has a couple piggy banks on her dresser that I stuff with dollars on the rare occasion I have a spare one floating around in my purse.  Sorry kid, mommy needs a coffee machine!  I will dedicate one of my empty Fossil boxed to be my Keurig fund.  I will stuff it until I can pay for a machine with cold, hard, rumpled up cash.

Yes you can contribute! Just mail me some dollars.

I feel like that episode of Two Broke Girls where they started the savings for their bakery or whatever and they ended with their cash total at the end.  But that was the only episode I saw so I don’t know how that worked out for them.

  1. I have a Keurig.. I am one of those people that drive to work with a mug full of coffee. I also stop buying K-Cups… They have a thing where you can put ground coffee into a little K-Cup brewer, so you can brew what ever kind of coffee you want. If I buy a pound of coffee, it lasts me at least a month, and that's even cheaper per cup, cause I sometimes drink two cups per day. I love my Keurig. LOVE IT! happy saving!

  2. I may contribute. And Target had cute little piggy banks for a dollar. You slipping on your savings.

  3. yeah. you woulda got bought on if you woulda stopped after one sentence. yay for saving! I'll contribute b/c I'm GONNA have some of that fancy pants ass coffee when you get the Keurig. yay!
