Steppin’ It Up

I’d been meaning to update everyone on all the stuff Addy is doing.  She’s been very very busy.

Food – She’s been eating more and more off our plates.  I even borrowed a tiny food processor from YaYa to try my hand at baby food making.  I just threw some baked chicken (skin removed) and put in a little sweet potatoes.  She ate it up.  She’s also been talking her formula in a sippy cup.  The bottles are becoming less frequent and more and more food is going in.  The doctor said that at a year we could switch over to whole milk.  Ok fine but I don’t even really know how the transition will go or how to even transport milk.  I haven’t even been traveling with sippy cups but whatever.  And let’s just all hope she don’t have the lactose.

Babbling – We’ve progressed from “hi” and “bye bye” to (what I assume to be) song singing with Scout.  There’s more inflections and sometimes anger to where I have to tell her to stop cursing at me.  She’s taken to making “ahhhh” sounds after a refreshing drink of water.  And if Brownlee makes an “ughhh” noise of frustration, wherever Addy is in the house, she repeats him.  But when I make the noise she just makes a face at me.  We’ve also been practicing saying “thank you”.  I’d hand her a ball and she’d hand it back.  I say “thank you”.  She says a noise similar to “thank you” when I hand it back.  We keep going back and forth for a while.  So now when she wants something she says “thank you” and when you hand her anything she says “thank you”.  Dank doo.  Something like that. There’s also something else she says that may or may not be “ok”.  I can’t really tell yet. And the other morning she woke up and was in her crib playing with her huggie for 20 minutes.  Just singing and talking and laughing.  I peeked in on her and she was sitting in there holding it up and talking to it.  🙂 .

Sleeping – for a minute she kept waking up at about 2am just standing up and laughing.  LAUGHING! Sleepy mommy was so funny.  But it was just a crazy spurt and she’s back to sleeping through the night.  And down to like two naps a day.  Quick ones at that.  She’ll take a nap about 1130a.  and then 6p.  I think.  Brownlee will have to confirm.  So that means waaaaay more playing.

Birthday – We got the invites in the mail.  They’re so awesome.

The theme is Where The Wild Things Are and it is a book party. Meaning that if people want to bring a gift, we’re asking for books.  We have more than enough toys since Addy had an awesome Christmas, and she’s actually very into books.  She’ll sit alone and turn the pages in her board books.  Upside down, but she still gets into it.

Teeth – Believe it or not there are two teeth budding up from her bottom gums.  I’d try to get a picture but she won’t let me in her mouth.  She will laugh very hard if you say “poop” so I’ll try to get a picture as I yell “poop” in my baby’s face.

Mobility – There had been a few steps.  Just to get to the closet object that would push her faster than she could crawl.  And she crawls damn fast.  But some of her toys have wheels so if she wants to speed away from Mommy to get to the bookshelf to pull down some movies, the push cart is the best way to go.  She has very good balance to where she can stand up and dance to Yo Gabba Gabba while screaming at me for combing her hair, but she just wouldn’t walk.  This weekend she saw her cousin who is a mere 3 days older walk across a living room.  And  bunch of kids at Gymboree were walking around.  It wasn’t really a matter of could Addy walk, but more of an Addy does whatever Addy wants (see: birthday) and will do it when she damn well pleases.  But TMite came over and I used her as bait while I broke out the filmdeo.  And we got:

  1. How awesome! I have taught many babies how to walk and dangling keys at their eye level work. Some idea as the toy. Also, have you invested in a pair if striderite (do)?
