348 Months!

Tomorrow is my birthday. Yay!

I’m not a big birthday person so I can do without all the fanfare and big dealness that some people love about their birthday.  I mean yay for them and all but mostly I just want a good time with friends and  family.  And so far that’s what I’ve been getting. Free drink at Starbucks.  Win.  $5 off at Jason’s Deli.  Win.  Free dessert at Pappadeaux.  Win.

Last night Booby made me fruit pizza.  WIN! Jenni made me a plum cake.  WIN WIN! And I got some sweet moolah to go buy clothes. I even printed out a coupon to get more for my gift card buck and ended up getting some Bobbi Brown makeup too. lur lur.  I HATE buying work clothes and since I don’t have an immediate need for them, I decided to replace the maternity gear from last winter with some newer threads.  Speaking of which, I need to enter phase 2 of closet cleanup and clear out all maternity clothes and send them back to Goodwill from whence they came.  Phase 1 was mostly me making a giant closet mess and deciding I needed to play with Shrinky Dinks and look through old notebooks to giggle at doodles.  Very productive on my part.

For tomorrow I came up with the genius idea to have a progressive meal with consistent drinking and that way people can just do as much or as little as they choose.  Brunch at Benjy’s.  Football and drinking at YardHouse.  Dessert at Ruggles Green.  And mo drinks at Dave & Busters.  Hopefully it will be a mix of 2009’s birthday where I got so wasted I challenged someone to a dance off and got served, and 2010 where I was 5 months pregnant and just wanted to eat pizza then go to sleep.

29  will be a good year.  I’m getting the hang of being a mom and don’t mind doing mom things.  I plan to get a nice good pair of mom khakis to prove it (not to be confused with mom jeans).  This will be a staple in my “yeah I have a kid but I still listen to rock music” momming phase in which I will rock.

That’s really about all I have planned.  I was going to wait until I turn 30 to do anything big but all I could think of was LASIK surgery.  And the thought of that still scares me because after 20 years of glasses wearing waking up with perfect sight will be very Twilight Zone-y and the way science works I’d need it again in 15 years anyway.  And I figured at 30 I am old enough to not need a sensible tattoo so I would finally get my Fight Club one.

But why wait? 29 is just as old as 30! Plus once the idea got in my head I knew I couldn’t wait anyway.

Appointment is set for next week.  And I might not be able to talk about Fight Club but I will surely take pictures of the tattoo.
