Distractions

Saturday I bought a gimbal. A gimbal is a stabilizer thingy to hold your phone while you film videos. It’s for the obnoxious and influencer types (did I say obnoxious twice), but it was a whim based on this late night Instagram video I saw. And now I want to make aesthetically pleasing b-side life footage.

I’m reading. I’m playing video games. I’m forcing my family to watch Agatha All Along (it is very good they just don’t have the attention span to agree to start a show). I am considering a subscription to Reader’s Digest for nostalgia and probable disappointment). I am spending too much time on Pinterest and TikTok gathering more things to consider doing.

All in an effort to not think about the upcoming election and the consequences thereof.

Every day there’s 10 new unbelievable normally campaign ending events that occur or are uncovered and we’re still logging in to work and doing our little emails and watching the world burn.

I saw this video that said “the human body wasn’t meant to withstand 3 Trump candidacies”.

Facts.

  1. I’ve decided that right now, the U.S. is in the hands of fate and all we can do on the ground is control our controllables. I know that runs counter to the myth of American heroism, but people all over the world survive their day-to-day in all kind of regimes. Hell, we aren’t but two generations removed from our grandparents living under an oppressive regime. Many of them figured it out. If we have to, so will we.

I just can’t be in a knot over the election any more. Especially when half the population is like “Eh. Doom spiral, it is. Maybe my groceries will be cheaper.”

Sorry. That wasn’t very hopeful or Resistance-Twittery of me. lol. But it’s the best I’ve got.
