Watched.
I re-started Veep. I’ve only watched Season 1 when it was current and fell off. Now that it’s in it’s last season I figured why not start from the tippity top. My god it is hilarious.
Sang.
Van Hunt has released The Reimagined Van Hunt where he has somehow managed to re-arrange songs I initially fell in love with 15 years ago on his self-titled album, Van Hunt. I can’t get over how good Hello, Goodbye is AGAIN. This is amazing. Listen.
(I know that Sara Bareilles has a new album out but I couldn’t take it in because Van Hunt. I would say I’d try her next week but Norah Jones has a new album out and I have already pre-ordered the vinyl so I’m occupied in the ear heart)
Listened.
I did a solid binge of Season 1 of the podcast Over My Dead Body. There’s an odd murder that took place in Florida that a reporter does interviews and what not about. It was just okay. I think Crimetown made me think I like true crime podcasts. And I did enjoy Dirty John and Serial but maybe I don’t like true crime podcasts. Or at least they have to be really really good crimes??
Nora McInerny of Terrible, Thanks for Asking podcast was a guest on Call Your Girlfriend podcast to talk about her new book. Aminatou and Nora talk about the fallbacks of internet fame and how you don’t have to be all good vibes only all the time because being a human being is hard work. Fantastic stuff. (Listen)
Read.
I finished I’m Fine, And Neither are You by Camile Pagan and I was correct that it was not a great book. The main character was too whiny. 2.5 stars. I have been doing pretty good about not spending money on books and this is what I get for taking free stuff. I’ve been reading books I already bought. Except right after I finished this book I treated myself to a short story collection All The Names They Used for God by Anjali Sachdeva.
And I treated myself to a new Kindle Paperwhite and it comes with three months of Kindle Unlimited so that’s three more months of not buying books and probably recouping the cost of said paperwhite. (sidenote: Amazon has a program that you can trade in your old Amazon electronics for a new electronic at a discount.)
AddiSONned.
Addy went to Girl Scout Camp this weekend. She literally just joined the Girl Scouts the week before and we found out they were going to camp. She came back home today and we chatted some about what all they did. (She was exhausted and generally incoherent most of the day. Fun hangover.)
They did a full on campfire and made s’mores so I asked her how that went.
Me: How were the s’mores?
Addy: The s’mores were…well…some people did not like the s’mores.
Me: Were you “some people”?
Addy: Yes
I make Suburban S’mores, which is heating up Chips Ahoy for 20 seconds, then put a marshmallow on top and heat them up another 20 second. That’s it. That’s the recipe.
Lastly.
The Steven Universe page on Facebook shared this image from Cartoon Network and I got very very excited. I know I’m not supposed to use the term “spirit animal” but I didn’t know what I could use. And I don’t speak Harry Potter so the term “patronus” is lost on me. So I give you what Cartoon Network gave me. “Magical Guardian”.
So, I know very little about Ice Bear, but I would imagine that he’s very low key — which I am not. Do over!!! And I’m so happy that Addy enjoyed her first camping experience.
First camping and now she doesn’t like s’mores… like you said, how is this your kid?
