Mayer Hawthorne – Man About Town

Me and Mayer go way back.  This is his fourth CD and I’ve been around for all three and a concert. So I’m a fan and technically I’m not new to Mayer but his new CD came out and I’ve been listening for a week.

Mayer’s from Detroit and had the old Motown Soul sound for the CD 1 and 2.  3 was more R&B, maybe for radio play?, but I suppose hypothetical radio.  Man About Town is back to the old soul sound.  Hooray!  Not like that I didn’t  like the other stuff, cause I did, but this is what I was hoping for.  I mean look at the cover.

I think so far my favorite track is Breakfast In Bed.  And I like the last track Out Of Pocket, but the CD stops so abruptly it’s a little irritating.  I think because I just wanted more songs.  No matter, I keep it on loop!  There wasn’t a song I found myself skipping either.  Yay Mayer.

He comes to Houston this summer and is including a digital download of this release.  And his website is super quirky so check that out as well.
