Santigold – 99 Cents
Sanitogold has been around for quite a while and I’ve heard her songs here. I remember “L.E.S. Artiste” being a big hit back in the day when MTV2 played music videos (circa 2008). She sings electronica and while I can listen to, and like a song or two, I’ve never done a full electronica album.
But on XMU they’ve been playing her new single “I Can’t Get Enough of Myself” and I love it. LOVE IT. It’s upbeat and chipper and all Yaaaassss Queen. It’s sunny, and happy, and you can’t not dance to it.

So I gave it a listen. It’s what I expected to be from knowing the little that I know about Santigold. It’s not trippy electronica music, she sings and there’s some heavy bass but I couldn’t listen to it straight through more than a few times because after three or four songs I just had enough. And it’s not that I didn’t like them either, I just wanted to know what else was on.
In my arbitrary rating system I give 5 things to “I Can’t Get Enough of Myself” and shelf the rest of the album for another time when I just need background noise.
But turn this up and jam.
