Pictures and Words on Wednesday 08.26.15

A tale for Wordless Wednesday.  Nickelodeon shows a lot of commercials.  Unsurprising.  Sometimes it’s for ridiculous things.  Like that Snackeez thing that YaYa bought that’s a cup with another cup on top to put snacks in.  And then it’s things like a monkey bar for your house.  But mostly, it’s toys.  And all of the things, Addy swear she needs/really likes/has to have.

Lately the most coveted toy is an eye doctor Barbie. (They don’t say optometrist.) Barbie is a woman of many careers, again.  And even better, this eye doctor one is EXCLUSIVELY at Target.  So Addy’s like “yeah when we going to Target so I can get the eye doctor Barbie?”

Dude you didn’t clean your room or make a bed or even ask properly.

She darts up from the couch and starts to clean her room.  Except she got distracted after the commercial break because Ninja Turtles came back on.

But she never forgets about the toys.

It’s time to clean and purge, so I told her it was time she learn that she has too many toys and we need to donate to kids who don’t have toys.  She just kind of stared at me.  And I was like “look some or your toys are for babies.  So you need to put them in a box.  And then you can get the eye doctor Barbie.”

Judge me.

We filled a medium-sized cardboard box with ease, plus one Klip-Klop Castle (see: Christmas 2013) full of toys.  It wasn’t hard because she picked what went into the box and she said “we can let other kids have these”.  Normally I just go through and get rid of stuff and she comes back pissed like “Where’s my stuff”.  Plus I’m sure I can call it parenting because we kinda taught her about giving.  Except no toy phones went into the box.  There’s still 10 of those in her room.

(OMG then she totally got on a princess phone with Sophia and was like “Sophia? Yeah.  So ok I saw it on Facebook.”)

selflessly went to Target on my lunch break  to find the Eye Doctor Barbie.  Except there was none.  Then I checked inventory online and the Target I had was Out of Stock.  Oh ok.  That’s why I have two work Targets. No dice at Target two.

Hmmph.

“But Bre, you live online, just order it!” Right, except no.  You can’t.  You can’t even order it to pick it up in the store.

Target is mocking me
Target is mocking me

Instead of however many more Targets, I pick Addy up and just in case SuperTarget dosn’t have it, she can pick some other career Barbie.

Pet Vet Barbie.  ZOO Vet Barbie.  Twin Babysitter Barbie.  Teacher Barbie.  Doctor Barbie. This does not include the various mermaids and horse wranglers and glitter Barbies.

No Eye Doctor Barbie.  Nowhere.

She was happy with Babysitter Barbie (whom judging by hair and outfit, is a teen)  With just one baby doll, not to toddler dolls.  Success.  Or whatever.

Here’s the pictures.

  1. Awww y'all are fun parents! But really, pet vet and zoo vet? And who taught Barbie how to dress for babysitting? Wedges were a poor choice. I love that you took a fashion blogger-esque pic to show them off.

    1. i felt like that's how Barbie would represent. it's better than glitter fashion Barbie's heels so there is progress. so Pet Vet Barbie came with a dog and cat. ZOO Vet Barbie came with a tiger (same size as PVB's cat) and a monkey. you know they're all about the accessories. I ALMOST bought Film Director Barbie but all she has is a camera and one of those “ACTION” film board thingiesFrom: notifications@intensedebatemail.comTo: bre87@hotmail.comSubject: Bre Writes – New comment on: Pictures and Words on Wednesday 08.26.15

  2. Barbie is a fraud, but she is getting paid!!!!!!!! She's worst than a Jamaican with all the jobs she has. But seriously, the pic of Brownlee and Addy on the floor playing "Barbie" is priceless!!!! Huge props to Addy Daddy!!!!
