Brownlee bought me a record player.
I had been flirting with the idea off and on for a while because I mean I still buy CDs so why not throw some vinyl into the collection. I mean besides the albums we have framed on the wall in our office.
But I went to Cactus Music for an Alabama Shakes listening party and pre-ordered the CD. Except when you pre-order the vinyl you get a super awesome limited edition vinyl single to go along with it. Plus there’s just something phenomenal about being in a record store.
Anyway I got this record player. And The Black Key’s Brothers to go along with it.
It apparently has this USB in the back to connect to your computer to rip records into iTunes??? Because to reach the Nth level of hipster you have to rip vinyls not use the digital download code that they all come with. Well except Brothers. That came with an actual CD and I realized I had been listening to the CD out of order for 4 years.
And to really bring my faux nostalgia home, we hooked up the Beats Pill to the headphone jack to fill the room with sound. I can also be found sitting on the floor with my Beats headphones.
Then Saturday was Record Store Day so then we had to go to record stores. Brownlee was looking for some old soul, especially use to give it that classic vinyl crack.
I was looking for anything I could listen to straight through.
We got a great buy with GImme Fiction (my first and therefore favorite Spoon CD), ATLiens, a Record Store Day Outkast exclusive, and The Temptations Live.
And now behold photos taken on my very expensive camera treated with filters to make it look like it came from my less expensive, even newer Instax, that looks like old, old Polaroids. .

We’ll see how many more are on the shelf come next Record Store Day.
Did you know Record Store Day was a thing? Do you have records? What else should I be on the hunt for?
Oh, wow! I'm so excited, and it's not even my record player. (Must be the hipster in me. Lol!) Tell Brownlee that your dad has some old soul albums in the closet. He's welcome to browse through them and take what he wants.
Um, this is amazing. I've had my eye on getting a record player forever. I've got records that I played on my grandmothers old record player but it broke and now I just have records.
i went to Cactus Music for the listening party and they had a Peanuts record player that made me drool. my sister and I went to Sound Exchange and they have a lot of old record player parts that might work in your old one. or a pawn shop! From: notifications@intensedebatemail.comTo: bre87@hotmail.comSubject: Bre Writes – New comment on: In Which I Go Full Hipster
I don't own a record player yet…which makes me feel so uncool. But, please add some Marvin Gaye records to your collection. Happy Thursday 🙂
We have owned a record player since the early 90's. A good friend of ours gave it us and it's still works. My parents gave me their record collection -from oldies to real goodies. I love that my husband shares the love of music. In his past time he can find good condition vinyl at garage sales to goodwill stores. As well as our annual shopping on Record Store Day. This year we brought the 20th Anniversary of The Dandy Warhols.
I need to start going to garage sales!!!
The box the colour combination of this record player is too much nice and really I like the pattern made on top of it. The music is always the fun for everyone and I would like to suggest you to use the ninja essay writing service to write and tell people about your experience with this play recorder and I’m waiting to hear it from you.
