Lazy Feminist
I’m reading this book Bad Feminist by Roxane Gay. It’s essays and at times I just want to type all of it out and post it on Tumblr for mass consumption. Anyway I am strong in my feminist views, however I take no issue with changing my last name now that I’m married. However, I am lazy and changing your name is an…arduous task. It was so hard to change my name on mobile Facebook. Google+ tells you straight up “you can’t change your name too often so be sure about this” when I go to change it. Between Facebook and Google the world knows I have a new last name. We sent the marriage license off to Texas Whatever Department so I mean what’s really left to do? Oh just go to the social security office. Then the drivers license office. Then change the title on my car. Then the post office. Then all my banks and whatever else accounts.
So. We’ll see how that goes.
Freedom
However, now that I do not feel some obligation to be saving (time or money) for the wedding effort I do feel a new freedom. Well an illusion of it anyway. Like the world is my oyster and I can shuck all of these projects and activities out of it. I don’t have to schlep down to Michael’s for baskets or garters or candy jars. I can sleep in and watch NCAA Saturdays and go to brunch and buy boots and start a new photo project or look at blog templates or start prep work to do NaNoWriMo this year. I mean really I’ll probably just spend my weekends eating and lusting after Lush products but still, the illusion is there. That and four blank Moleskines.
Lush
Me and my sister stopped at the Lush counter a couple weeks ago out of boredom and curiosity. I’m sure that’s how most people start her’on or crack. On a related note I have spent a lot of money in there in 3 weeks and I follow them on Tumblr and Facebook and I’m trying not to go this weekend to get some more Ultrabland.
Arctic Monkeys
My Kanye West station on Pandora is very eclectic. This should not be a surprise to anyone. It will go from Kanye to Nirvana to the Beatles to Snoop Dogg. That’s the way I like it.
However, a song came on the other day and I stopped everything I was doing (read: scrolling through Tumblr) to download the Arctic Monkey’s AM album. Do I Wanna Know is my current jam. I’ve known Arctic Monkeys was a thing, but it’s kinda like how I know CSI is a thing but I’ve never seen an episode. Or maybe more like I know Adult Swim has live action shows but I don’t watch them. Indie but not unheard of. Well now I can’t stop listening to the song. And I’m an enabler. You’re welcome.
Honeymoon blog will be worked on over the weekend maybe. Mostly I have to find where store the pics and if I want to include video and whatnot.
Give me a lesson in Lush… like I have looked at it, noticed it smelled nice, then saw how expensive things were and backed out slowly. Tell me what's worth the money because I went into the store in First Colony and it was very overwhelming!
i'm only into the face stuff so far…and a little bath stuff. but so far it's worth it. i figure the money i would have spent subscribing to birchbox or whatever can just go to LUSH. go in when you have time and let them show you what they have. they rub all on your hands and it's relaxing and heavenly and they give you a lot of samples.i haven't had to use concealer in weeks and i am NOT well-rested.From: notifications@intensedebatemail.comTo: bre87@hotmail.comSubject: Bre Writes – New comment on: Island of Misfit Posts 09.12.14
