The wedding is this week.
Kinda. Mostly I’m ready to go to Mexico. I’m looking forward to a real life vacation and a beach with drinks in pineapples or whatever TV and movies have made me think beach vacations are.
So far I have prepped by going to Target 17 times and making sure my reading material is up to snuff.
I assume all the details are handled. As it has been stated, Brownlee is the main wedding decision maker and thing doer. I will go shopping if I have to, especially when it means that I can get unnecessary yet beautiful dress and suit hangers from BHLDN.
It’s mostly confusing because for the last 8 years or so, I have faithfully watched wedding shows. Bridezillas, Platinum Weddings, Say Yes to the Dress, SYTTD ATL, Four Weddings, all everything. And I love love. I mean have you seen Love, Actually? And all other chick flicks. I have a large collection of chick lit books.
And yet so much of the wedding process alludes me. Brownlee just yells and tells me that it’s tradition and I have to do it (except I scrapped any sort of “unity” ceremony, because the wedding is a unity ceremony) so that’s what I’ve done.
Here’s what I have not done:
- Gotten my dress altered
- Whitened my teeth
- Toned my arms to the likes of one Michelle Obama
- Saved enough
- Realized people want you to keep the details secret. Like it’s a surprise party
- Lost Weight
- Gained weight
- Cheated and looked at the wedding registries to see what has been purchased
- Freaked out
But the week is young so who knows what’s coming.
I do know that Addy is good and ready to get this party started. Mostly because she picked out a dress online and then we went to Carter’s where she procured a pair of leopard ballet flats.
“Is it time to go to the church yet? I’m ready for the wedding”
No dear, we’re getting married in the “cheap showiness of nature”, (Ned Flanders).
Also, I also had a bridal brunch a couple weeks ago. But I just posted that on the neglected wedding blog.
No one has Michelle Obama arms except Michelle Obama. I think you're gonna be just fine. And I'm glad you and Addy agreed upon a dress. I wouldn't have been surprised to see her in a Spiderman costume. Now THAT would have been a surprising detail!
Congrats, you too! Enjoy your wedding and your real vacation!
Ok, Bre'. You may not be anxious yet, but in my best Tracy Morgan voice, "I'm bugging out!"
