Although Addy basically looks just like Brownlee, it seems like she’s going to get her shape from me. The kid is long and thin, which is seeming to cause some issues.
Firstly, her pants don’t fit right and I need a baby belt. I don’t think this is a thing, but luckily I found some adjustable waist jeans for her from Old Navy. It’s just a pull tab that you adjust until the pants fit and you button up. Easy peasy! I want them for myself.
Secondly, she can reach a lot of things we weren’t prepared for her to reach. We’ve taken a lackadaisical approach to baby proofing our apartment (read: we haven’t done anything). You know that step stool I got her for the bathroom? No she just needs to extend her arm and she can put her toothbrush under running water. I’m sure you’re all “that’s great you don’t have to hover over her as she brushes her teeth”. If you think that, you would be wrong, and didn’t remember that she’s locked herself in the bathroom twice…in two days. But she also just likes to swish her toothbrush in the sink as the water drains out. Which is gross. She also tends to splash because splashing is fun. This is a mess.
Since she can lock doors, she’s taken a try at unlocking doors. The front door to be specific. Because when you unlock the front door that means you get to go bye bye, and that is the coolest. So the other night she decides she’s going to go for it. I hear her banging around at the front door, which sometimes results in us putting on shoes and going to the playground in the apartments. I wasn’t in the mood, but Tiny wasn’t having it. I come around the corner and see her doing this:
Ok technically, I saw her doing that, put the safety latch thing on the door, then went and got my phone.
When she got the lock vertical, she thought she was money and went and got her bag.
Notice how her hand is now on the handle. She was not playing around. She only half-assed said bye bye too!
When she’s in the kitchen screaming for yogurt or juice, she bides her time trying to set the knobs on the toaster or get the mail or something. Of course it’s worse in the bathroom with me. Now she’s in the cabinets AND getting stuff (mostly makeup) off the counter. Gah!
But seriously, do they make adult pants with the adjustable waist?

I like your priorities re: pants w/ adjustable waists. 😉 G is getting taller faster than I'd like, but he's not yet quite able to get to doorknobs even though he's cottoned on to what they're used for. Luckily our front door lock is MUCH higher than the doorknob. Also, our bathroom locks are the old-fashioned kind that need a key (which isn't available anywhere for him to use) so we're lucky there as well.
He does, however, scream in the kitchen for yogurt and juice, so perhaps G and Addy are kindred spirits after all. 😉

it's almost like when i was pregnant and was so excited i never had to zip and button my pants cause of the Be Band lol.
I'm freaking out because Parker can reach the door knob, and he hasn't even figured out how to open it! I'd die if he could already reach the front door lock!
Yeah. it’s crazy. So now if she wanders off into the bathroom I’m bolting in there to make sure she doesn’t lock the door. But the front door?! GAH!
This is TOOO funny and i can TOTALLY relate. Little man is getting into EVRYTHING!!!! I have no clue where his height comes from since I'm the tallest in my family (5'4") and hub is a mere 5'6"… head scratcher…
