I have never been one for extra credit or even really extra-curricular activities, but these days I find myself accepting these challenges. I may or may not have a Barney Stinson moment when I take them on. And it’s never anything grueling like “oh yeah I’m going to become a tri-athlete” cause I don’t even run when I’m being chased.
But I am making some headway on my Goodreads challenge to do 30 books this year. Thanks Kindle app! I’ve been pretty active on Fatmumslim’s #photoaday challenge. The bumpies that are really into photography (read: bought an expensive camera and are determined to use it somewhat properly) have started a 12 Week to a Better Photo class by Two Peas (they do all sorts of online classes). I’ve learned how to set my custom white balance! You don’t care?! You should! That means less editing. You still don’t care? You suck. I’m still psyched. Either way that means I end up with A LOT of random pictures that I don’t really want to bombard Facebook with. I’ve considered getting a Tumblr account to just stockpile all my pictures for mass web consumption but do I really want another social networking tool, or login? And how does Tumblr work anyway?
In addition to those things, I’ve also been keeping track in my I Like Book that I got for Mother’s Day. Before I go to bed, I do a mental recap of the day and try and think of one good thing from it that I can like. Granted, a lot of them have been food items but so what. No matter your Facebook beliefs, there are no rules to liking things.
I think the last thing that I would like to do is some sort of short story writing challenge but I can’t exactly find anything. Perhaps I should actually look and not just look to Twitter for prompts that I quickly dismiss. I feel like I should be writing something sometimes but I lack the motivation. These little daily challenges are small enough to actually be done, but are big enough to break up the humdrummity of life. I like that they take some amount of effort and thought. I mean they are called challenges for a reason. But again, no running. It just feels good to be like, “yeah I completed a month of blahblah!” and then stick a widget on your sidebar lol.
Are you doing any sort of mini challenge with your time? If you’re doing something that’s a real challenge keep it to yourself. I refuse to be impressed by big things. (in my hipster voice).
Yay, Bre! Good for you for doing the little challenges that lead up to a big accomplishment. And I'm so happy to know that your I Like It book is being used. Score! Lol!
I'm glad you're using your I Like Book too. Didnt want to have to steal it from you. 🙂 lmao @ keeping the big challenges to yourself. hater.
