Just when you all thought the interview was over with me, it’s not. I asked Addy’s favorite mom 10 questions about her first year as a mom. So here’s what she said.
Estimate, how many diapers have you changed in the last year?
Figure the kid averages 6 diapers a day. For 365 days that’s 2190 diapers. But cause I’m not at home during the day, and shirk a lot of the responsibilty at night and on the weekends my mom changes a lot of them and if an aunt is around they’re quick to change a diaper…just for fun. So I’ve probaly only changed about 500.
Favorite moment in year one?
It’s a tie between when I could get her to roll over with the cup, or when she started full on walking.
Nastiest thing you’ve seen so far?
That poopslosion. It’s engrained in my memory and was worse than The Stand, which is the scariest movie I’ve seen and that was like 6 hours long.
What’s the best baby food you’ve had?
For clarification I don’t just sit and eat baby food. I just taste most of them before I give them to her. Anywho Happy Baby or Plum Organics makes a pouch of like pear and spinach and something else that is super good.
Biggest surprise of being a parent?
How interested everyone else is in my kid. I thought it would be like one of those things where nobody cares about your thing as much as you do. But everyone’s all “I want to see Addy” or “What is Addy up to?” and they geniunely care, they’re not just asking to be polite and then space off when I answer. It’s crazy.
Proudest mommy moment?
Whenever she just sits and plays by herself. Like yay I have an independent kid who can learn things on her own!
Biggest waste of money so far?
The majority of the toys I’ve bought. They look cool to me but apparently the boxes or empty Sprite bottles are cooler (yes I’m still mad it’s still in the toy box).
How would you rate your performance? Why?
7.5??? I don’t know. I’m pretty good at being a mom but sometimes I’m super lazy and we do things like just sit around and watch music videos. And I curse at her cartoons cause they’re so fn stupid sometimes. Like a 10 mommy wouldn’t say “Olivia is a little bitch” or “Dora has a big ass head”, but she probably wouldn’t dance to music videos so whatev. But I’m attentive and try to stimulate her brain so there’s that. Plus I gave myself .5 cause I never dropped her on the floor.
What do you miss already?
I miss when she was tiny and we would take naps and she wouldn’t kick me or sit up and snatch my glasses off and laugh at me cause I look so funny to her without glasses. And I could just give her kisses and she wouldn’t try and Heismann me like she does now. But it’s ok cause now she gives me kisses…sometimes.
Anything you wish you could go back and re-do?
I wish we would have started her on a routine at 3 months when we put her in her own crib. Like wind down, bath, story, bed time, go to sleep under your own power child. We just sort of wing it every night. I don’t think it’s detrimental, I just sometimes want to drop her in her crib turn on the turtle and the sheep and go on about my business.
And here is MY favorite Bre parenting moment caught on camera!!!
And there you have it folks….thanks for tuning in…..
BROWNLEE
Very Nice…I'm not sure that people without kids truly understand just how disgusting explosive poop and projectile spit up really is. There was one time that Erica thought Jace was done handling his business, went to put on the new diaper and he surprised her with more Sh*t…right in her hand. Not a pleasant moment for any of us!
Nice!! Your a great parent!
Just awesome! God love you for the pic, Bre. You brave self-depricating soul, you
Thanks. But my friends are quick on the draw with their cameras so I really didn’t have a choice. Lol.
