Pumpkin Patch 2014

This year we drove way out to the boonies to go to a “real” pumpkin patch.  Honestly, I was all set to go to Trader Joe’s because they were going to have activities for the kids and it was down the street and we needed fruit and flowers anyway so two birds…but we were invited out to Blessington Farms so we went.

Houston is a sprawling metropolis but this is still Texas and there are still farms everywhere and it was just a 40 minute drive of twist and turns and farm roads and we were in minivan heaven.  So many vans.  And kids in wagons.  We weren’t prepared.  I mean we were because I had my camera bag, Addy’s backpack, cash, water, and hand sanitizer.  But we weren’t farm-ready.  I had on Toms and this cool kid went like this:

But this wasn’t just some podunk farm. They had at least a dozen pumpkin patch pictures set up everywhere.  Under the trees no less.  A giant sand mountain. Slides. Bouncy horses.  A train.  Petting zoo.  And an actual pumpkin patch.

We got the kids to mildly cooperate for the pumpkin pics but then Addy saw the slides and the sand and was done with any advised activities for the rest of the day.

It was cool.  I mean it’s the middle of October and still 85 degrees on the regular (thanks for nothing Obama) so maybe I’m not in the fall spirit? The ghost of Pumpkin Spice Lattes (which I don’t drink) hasn’t paid me a visit.  Or maybe because I’m such a city kid I don’t remember there ever going to a pumpkin patch.  I know we had a fall festival in elementary but that was really about it.

Anywho we spent $31 (pumpkin = $1) and Addy had a good time and I didn’t complain and I got some good pics.

  2. You guys are adorable. Next year you should try Old McDonald's Farm bc it's on my side of the world and I've been looking for an excuse to go!
